The Fourth Week In June

Well, this week has been really beautiful weather once again.  We still really need rain though!

There is loads available to eat now, broccoli is ready, lots of beans and peas and early squashes.  Time seems to be racing by, the days and weeks of summer are so precious.  The usual maintenance jobs and picking and storing food that’s ready.  Juicing each morning helps to use up lots of the greens. The Third Week In June

In addition to the usual jobs (weeding, watering, cutting grass, picking veg that is ready, tying things up) this week I have been harvesting and making things with elderflowers. I found them on a country lane and picked a massive bag of them.   Foraging is a great permaculture activity because it involves using recycling and using found ingredients and of course, getting a yummy yield. The First Week In June

It’s quite a labour intensive time of the season just now, with everything growing so quickly.  It’s wonderful to see everything thriving and blooming.

This week I’ve planted more cucumbers out in the greenhouse and some outdoor beefsteak tomatoes in pots.  I’ve put parsnips in and also some Mexican spinach. Learn more
