Apple & Date Oat Squares
A really yummy way of using apples in autumn

  1. 225g dairy free spread
  2. 4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored and chopped up small
  3. 200g pitted dates
  4. 300g light soft brown sugar
  5. 200g self-raising flour
  6. 120g porridge oats
  1. Cook the dates and apples until really soft. Keep adding enough water to cook it into a firm mush.
  2. Melt the spread
  3. Mix dry ingredients and then add to the spread
  4. Press half of it into an 18cm square tin
  5. Top with the apple mixture
  6. Press the rest of the oat mix on the top
  7. Bake in an oven preheated to oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5 for 35 minutes
  8. Cut and leave to cool in the pan
